$2400 Max/Person/Election

The Federal Election Commission and federal law requires all federal candidate to make best efforts to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of individuals who contribute personal funds to a federal candidate's committee. Federal law limits political contributions to $4,800 per person per election cycle: $2,400 for the primary election and $2,400 for the general election. PACs can contribution $10,000 per election cycle: $5,000 for the primary election and $5,000 for the general election.

Contributions directly from corporations, federal contractors, labor unions, minors and foreign nationals (except permanent residents) are prohibited. The "2008 Federal Election Commission Campaign Guide" (Chapter 5, p. 29) explains that "Federal Contractor" means a partnership, an LLC, an individual under direct contract to the Federal Government, or the sole proprietor of a business with federal contracts.  SPOUSES AND EMPLOYEES OF FEDERAL CONTRACTORS MAY CONTRIBUTE FROM PERSONAL FUNDS.  Contributions are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.

I acknowledge that:

  • I am a United States citizen or a permanent resident alien and I am at least 18 years of age.
  • I am making this contribution with personal funds not provided by any other person or entity.
  • I am not a federal contractor as explained above.

"Some people enjoy spending money.  Not me.

As the child of Depression Era parents and grandparents, I grew up understanding  how hard it is to earn a dollar, and how important it is not to waste what you have.  I grew up understanding the concepts of personal responsibility, making do, and investing wisely. I understand how to fix the gate with a nail you straightened to save a penny.  And I watch every penny I spend, at home, at work, and on the campaign trail.

I feel even more strongly about being a good steward of money entrusted to me by others. I know that people who send money to this campaign are not giving it to me -- they are investing it in the idea of America. They love our nation and believe in it. They fear for our future and our children. And they hope for our triumph, for better days ahead, for a return of American greatness. Most of all, they are contributing because they believe in my message, and in me as the messenger.

I will not let them down. I will not let you down.

As we campaign, we cut every expense we can, doing our own commercials, buying used instead of new when that will do, eating sandwiches in the truck as we race across the district to See the People. This is good enough for our voting citizens where they work and live. So it is good enough for our campaign. And I will take this approach of making the best of every dollar with me to Congress when I am elected.

But even when you spend every dollar like it is your last, running a campaign for US Congress is expensive.  What is true for America is true for us: there is no free lunch.  We have to pay for office space, electricity, phones, computers, bumper stickers, radio spots, printing, web sites, pens, paperclips and toilet paper. I have an important message to deliver, about limiting the power of government, expanding the power of people, rewarding responsible behavior, reducing irresponsible spending, facing down hairbrianed social experiments, and interpreting the  Constitution to mean exactly what it says.  I am ready for this fight.

But I can't do it alone.  I need you.  I need you to volunteer. I need you to call friends and tell them about me and our campaign.   I need you to host our fundraisers in your home. And I need you to help me pay the cost of getting this message to every corner of our district.  I need you to give all you can, then go home and think about what is at stake, and come back and give again.

America is a great country. It is built on a solid foundation. Its best days are indeed ahead of it.  If we can regain control before that foundation is destroyed.

Please join me. Give all you can, and together we will make America right again.

I’m Dave McIntyre. I approved this message. I wrote it. And I mean it."
